The 3 Legged Pig BBQ is brought to you by the combined forces of Pit Master Rob Osypian and Pit Boss Andy Suppo. Rob is a Conesus Lake resident and has dreamed of bringing his great BBQ to the area for years. Andy resides closer to Rochester where he operates a successful wine and liquor store but he is a long-time fan of BBQ and boating on Conesus Lake.
With their new venture in the works, partners Rob and Andy began tossing names around for their future restaurant and started searching out BBQ equipment at the same time. Their first obvious purchase was a Southern Pride Smoker which they retrieved during a 20-hour road trip to Grand Rapids Michigan. The sellers were a lovely older couple who were veteran BBQ-ers. Knowing that the partners were beginning a new BBQ business, they presented Rob and Andy with a small, clay, three-legged pig, telling them it was a good luck charm.
Following a little research, the partners discovered that in Chilean legend, these "chanchitos," or three-legged pig figurines are considered very lucky and are often given as tokens of goodwill and fortune to friends and relatives. And so the 3 Legged Pig BBQ name came to be! Perhaps lucky because it wasn't eaten all at once!
After "testing the waters" last summer as a take-out-only venture, the two are proud to offer their BBQ followers a newly renovated restaurant at their permanent site.
